Anguilla, 1989

Anguilla is a British overseas territory located in the Caribbean, the most northerly of the Leeward islands in the Lesser Antilles. The first telephone cards used were provided by Cable & Wireless and produced by GPT, all with the same image (Meads Bay). Four values were issued in the Eastern Caribbean Dollar currency: EC $ 5.40 (code 1CAGA, circulation 1,000), EC $ 10 (1CAGB, 25,000), EC $ 20 (1CAGC, 10,000) and EC $ 40 (1CAGD, 5,000). The lowest value was included in the “Leewards Islands” collector’s pack which contained 6 cards, one for each island that used the GPT / Cable & Wireless system.
