Saudi Arabia, 1984

Saudi Arabia adopted the magnetic card system provided by GPT in 1993, but in previous years several tests were conducted with various systems: in addition to the GPT itself, also with Anritsu, Alcatel, and, first of all in 1984, with the optical cards of Landis & Gyr. For the trial, two cards were provided, with a 2 mm band and no lateral notch, one with 50 units prefixed with S0 and with a circulation of 33,000, and one with 100 units with prefix S1 and with a run of 21,000. Both cards are now quite rare.
