Bermuda, 1986

Bermuda is a British overseas territory in the North Atlantic, consisting of an archipelago comprising about three hundred coral islets, twenty of which inhabited. The first telephone cards used in the archipelago date back to 1986, were Autelca magnetic cards and consisted of a series of three values, expressed in Bermuda dollar: S10, $ 20 (with a circulation of 2,000 each), and $ 50, of which only 1,000 were produced. The Autelca system had little success, and so the following year they switched to the optical technology of Landis & Gyr, and this remained in use until 1994, when chip cards were introduced.
